It Really is Okay to Say “Merry Christmas” Even in the Public Schools

Posted by Ted Hoppe | Dec 10, 2013 | 0 Comments

Seems that every year at this time there are articles in the news about the “War on Christmas” and efforts of certain groups to cleanse the public schools of any reference to “Christmas”.  What most people do not realize, though, is that much of what is reported about Christmas in the public schools is exaggerated or simply is not true. For example:  did you know that it is not unconstitutional for a public school teacher to wish a student “Merry Christmas” or that a public school can display a nativity scene or that is is ok for a school to include traditional Christmas carols in their holiday concerts.  This year the Alliance Defending Freedom has published a Fact Sheet separating the facts from the myths surrounding Christmas in the public schools.  You can get a copy of the fact sheet here.

About the Author

Ted Hoppe

Hi, my name is Ted Hoppe and I have been an attorney in Pennsylvania for more than 30 years. One of the things I enjoy best about being an attorney is meeting and getting to know the clients who come to my office. I have been privileged to build long-term relationships with many of these clients and am honored that they come back to me for advice when legal issues arise in their lives. Many of them have also referred their families and friends to me for legal services which, frankly, is the best thanks an attorney can get.
